AREOLA REDUCTION

Areola Reduction is a procedure that aims to reduce the size of a large areola and make it between the normal range of 3.5 – 4.5cm in women and 2.5 – 3cm in men.

A local anaesthetic injection will be used to numb the area and the procedure will then be pain free. An incision on the skin around the areola is made and the extra part of the outer areola is removed. The wound is then closed using absorbable stitches and will be covered with a dressing.

Following the surgery, please remember to wear a bra day and night for three weeks. Scars tend to fade away after few months. The exact aftercare will be all explained to you on the day of surgery and sutures are usually removed after 7-10 days. 

95% of the cases are complications free, however, we have to make patients aware that with any sort of surgery there is a small risk of complications such as bleeding, infection, scarring, deformity, altered sensation or numbness.
